LE PARCOURS BIOGRAPHIQUE

Meet

Maximilien Vox (1894-1974)

Maximilien Vox has a passion for the graphic arts, layout and typography.

He was himself a cartoonist in the first years of L’Humanité newspaper, managed by Jean Jaurès at the beginning of the 20th century.

In 1952 he founds Les Rencontres de Lure, with Robert Ranc, head of Estienne school; the typographer Jean Garcia and the famous French writer Jean Gono. Their aim is to create a meeting place for lovers of typography and the graphic arts.

It is Vox who incites Jean Gourmelin to extend his talents beyond wallpaper and stained-glass windows.
