Although he is close to Gourmelin, having worked for Planète and featured nudity in his creations, Trémois is radically different in the way he treats his characters and their bodies. Trémois’ sensuous curves become cutting, almost aggressive strokes in Gourmelin’s work. The latter’s characters are more vulnerable, and sensuality gives way to metaphysical questioning. They are not motivated by their desires, like Trémois’ characters, but by their need to understand and a feeling of helplessness when faced with metaphysical snares.
